The Rapture is a funny thing.
There’s no solid scriptural foundation for it. The origin of the modern day ideal of it is that a fifteen-year-old girl living in Scotland in 1830 had a “vision” and sent it around to church authorities. Many of them dismissed it, but over the last 177 years, it seems to have become a key doctrine for American churches that believe that a horn will blow, and that all the righteous people will disappear even leaving their clothes behind to play naked in the fields of the Lord while all sinners will be relegated to a new hell on earth.
And they laugh at Scientologists.
So today’s God Stuff shows us a video preview of what we can expect from the Rapture. Apparently, “Hell On Earth” translates to “really bad acting”.
And once you’re through being scared by that video, unwind with a humorous look at The Rapture with “Left Behind”, the song.
